Concept for the Erinyes (Furies). The Furies generally are described as having "pitch black" skin and snake-like hair. This was interpreted as wavy or curly hair with various animalistic ornaments that can vary between curling horns to actual snakes. In these concepts, they can wrap themselves in what are called "Strings of Fate" (the strings of reality that make up the souls of mortals). When they hunt and kill or devour mortals found guilty of unnatural crimes, they steal rip the strings from their victims' bodies and use them to disguise their monstrous features. Their skin becomes pale flesh, their hair gains a health shimmer, and their usually toxic breath loses its potency. It cannot hide their horns, claws, or teeth, but it would be enough to pass through a crowd with a cloak or hood. When enraged, however, their true form can even shift and morph into more sinister features, be it wings or sharper claws. Picture 1 (full-body with all but their head depicting their truer form).
