[出張レポート] 仏アニメ制作の現場視察

GAC候補生のインターン開始に向けた視察と、ヨーロッパにおける日本のアニメーションの現状を知ることを目的に、コアメンバーが9月20日〜26日にフランスを訪れ、主要なアニメーションスタジオや配信会社を訪問しました。

訪問先はいずれも独自のスタイルを持つ著名なアニメーションスタジオです。

Je Suis Bien Content(*1)、Bobbypills(*2)、La Chouette Compagnie(*3)、Studio La Cachette(*4)、XILAM(*5)、Fortiche Production(*6)。

また、配信事業者である Crunchyroll、ADN、そして日本企業の海外展開を支援する JETRO Paris にも訪問し、クリエイターやスタジオの制作環境の違いだけでなく、雇用の形態やそれぞれが抱える課題について理解を深める、大変貴重な機会となりました。

(*1) Je Suis Bien Content（https://jsbc.fr/）は、『APRIL AND THE EXTRAORDINARY WORLD』や『MARS EXPRESS』など、国際映画祭で高い評価を得ているスタジオです。『MARS EXPRESS』は、1月30日より日本でも公開が予定されています。

(*2) Bobbypills（https://www.bobbypills.com/）は、『Creature Commandos』や、神風動画との国際共同制作による『Let’s Play クエストだらけのマイライフ』のオープニング映像などで話題を集めています。

(*3) La Chouette Compagnie（https://www.chouetteco.com/en）は、アヌシー映画祭で発表された『Dragon Striker』や、フランスのマンガを原作とする『Dreamland』などで注目を集めています。

(*4) Studio La Cachette（https://www.studiolacachette.com/）は、ゲンディ・タルタコフスキー監督によるテレビシリーズ『Primal』および『Unicorn: Warriors Eternal』に参加し、『ラブ、デス＆ロボット』の『Sucker of Souls』や『スター・ウォーズ：ヴィジョンズ』第2弾の一編「スパイ・ダンサー」などでも高い技術力が評価されています。

また、『Le Collège Noir』は同名コミックを原作とし、日本の東映アニメーションとの共同制作による作品です。

(*5) XILAM（https://xilam.com/）は、『失くした体（J’ai perdu mon corps）』で国際的な評価を受けたほか、『Oggy et les Cafards』など未就学児向け作品でも知られるスタジオです。

(*6) Fortiche Production（https://forticheprod.com/）の代表作『Arcane』は、リーグ・オブ・レジェンドの世界を舞台にしたシリーズで、世界的に高い視聴数を記録。アニメーション、脚本、世界観構築、サウンドトラック、声優の演技などが高く評価されました。

本作は、プライムタイム・エミー賞の優秀アニメーション番組部門を2度受賞し、アニー賞の一般視聴者向け最優秀アニメーションテレビ番組部門も受賞しています。

As part of preparations for the GAC candidates’ upcoming internships and to gain a better understanding of the current state of Japanese animation in Europe, the core members of the project visited France from September 20 to 26.

During the trip, they visited major animation studios and streaming companies.

All the studios we visited are highly acclaimed for their distinctive styles and creativity, including

Je Suis Bien Content (*1), Bobbypills (*2), La Chouette Compagnie (*3), Studio La Cachette (*4), XILAM (*5), and Fortiche Production (*6).

We also visited the streaming platforms Crunchyroll and ADN, as well as JETRO Paris, which supports the overseas expansion of Japanese companies.

The trip provided valuable insight not only into the differences in creative and production environments among studios and creators, but also into various approaches to employment and the challenges faced by each organization.

(*2) Bobbypills (https://www.bobbypills.com/) is widely recognized for Creature Commandos and the opening sequence of Let’s Play: Quest-Darake no My Life, an international co-production with Kamikaze Douga.

(*3) La Chouette Compagnie (https://www.chouetteco.com/en) attracted attention with Dragon Striker, unveiled at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and with Dreamland, an adaptation of a popular French comic.

(*4) Studio La Cachette (https://www.studiolacachette.com/) contributed to Genndy Tartakovsky’s TV series Primal and Unicorn: Warriors Eternal, and earned high praise for “Sucker of Souls” in Love, Death & Robots and “The Spy Dancer” in Star Wars: Visions Volume 2.

Its recent production Le Collège Noir, based on the comic of the same name, is a co-production with Toei Animation in Japan.

(*5) XILAM (https://xilam.com/) received international recognition for I Lost My Body (J’ai perdu mon corps) and is also well known for preschool-oriented titles such as Oggy and the Cockroaches.

(*6) Fortiche Production (https://forticheprod.com/) produced Arcane, the globally acclaimed series set in the world of League of Legends. The series has been praised for its animation quality, storytelling, world-building, soundtrack, and voice performances.

It won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program twice, as well as the Annie Award for Best TV/Media Production for General Audiences.
